Purpose Statement
“Inviting you into the fellowship of God’s love made known in Jesus.”
Core Values
“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. And you shall love your neighbour as yourself” (Mark 12:29).
We want to be a community known by our love:
1.
Love of God
- Loving God’s word – biblically faithful in our preaching and teaching, diligent in Bible study, obeying God’s word.
- Growing in love and knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, looking to Him who is the founder and perfecter of our faith (2 Peter 3:18, Hebrews 12:2).
- Building our loving relationship with God through daily prayer to the Father, through the Son and in the power of the Holy Spirit
- Glorifying God in joyful, Spirit filled worship in the Anglican tradition.
2.
Love of Neighbour
- Serving the people of Blackburn Hamlet and surrounding areas by proclaiming the good news of salvation in Jesus Christ, and through works of compassion.
- Nurturing people in the Christian faith, helping ordinary people be confident, joyful disciples of Jesus Christ in their 24/7 lives.
- Caring for each other, bearing one another’s burdens, showing forgiveness (Colossians 3:12-15).
3.
Love of Self
- Accepting ourselves as beloved children of God, born again by the Spirit through faith in Jesus Christ (John 1:12, 3:3-7).
- Open to the transforming power of the Holy Spirit who pours God’s love into our hearts (2 Corinthians 3:18, Romans 5:5).
- Walking in holiness of life, growing in the fruit of the Spirit (1 Peter 1:15, Galatians 5:22-23)
- Caring for our bodies as temples of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19).
